As Xmas approaches -open your heart not your wallet

With Xmas fast approaching – seemingly faster than any previous year – the insanity of the Festive Season is well and truly upon us. The frenetic pace that used to attach itself only to the week of Xmas itself seems to have extended its hold and many people seem to be pulled in many directions for the entire length of December these days, with Xmas parties, end of year concerts, Xmas obligations and various other commitments.

And then there is the Xmas shopping.

I must admit I do enjoy the Festive Cheer and Sparkling Xmas Lights in all the shops and already, in this Season of Festive Delight, I have found myself dress as a Xmas Elf for various Festive Activities more than once ha ha. [ at this junction I must share that nothing will get you in the Xmas Spirit quicker than donning an Elf outfit and playing Xmas Carols ha ah ha ].

But – when it comes to shopping – I do wonder if perhaps we have lost the true meaning of Xmas amongst the ever increasing commercialism and whether or not we could all enjoy the Festive Season just as much whilst spending less.

I am not suggesting at all that we all stop buying Xmas gifts, as it is truly wonderful to give to others and nothing can bring you greater JOY than the act of giving.

But….

What if instead of opening our wallets in this act of giving we also considered opening our hearts!?

What if we considered forgiving someone for whom we have held a grudge for years?

What if we decided to let go of some old hurts and visit that friend or relative over the Xmas Season whom we have avoided for a long time?

As I always say with A Bridge To You blogs – it is not for me to tell you how to live your life – but merely to suggest things for you to ponder.

Is there someone in your life who could benefit from you opening your heart to them during this Xmas Season?

Is there someone you could invite to join you at your Xmas dinner table or for a Xmas drink or for an afternoon of Xmas fun?

Is there someone around you who may be feeling down – or sad – or lost – or alone at this time of year?

Is there someone who simply needs a hand or a kindly word this Xmas.

That is all I am suggesting – that we all look around and extend the season of goodwill to anyone around us who may need it. That we all try to take on a little more “care” for our fellow human beings at this special time of year. That we all open our hearts to those around us.

So – shop till you drop everyone!

But also consider opening your heart this Xmas, as you may be surprised by not only how much this impacts upon the receiver – but you may also feel this incredibly warm cheery glow as you open your heart to someone around you – whether they be a friend, family member or perhaps a complete stranger.

If there is an old rift within your family or friendship circles that you would love to mend – perhaps now is the time to do it – in the Spirit of Xmas.

In the true Spirit of Xmas – we can truly give the best gift of all…..and we all have the power to do this, no matter what our bank balance.

The gift of our time.

The gift of our consideration and attention to another.

The gift of ourselves.

And the bonus is that this open heart is free.

Free Joy. Free Love. Free Giving.

So – get out there and truly enjoy Xmas and the Festive Season

And consider ” An Open Heart Policy” this Xmas!
