It’s simply just a matter of trust!

Hello to all and welcome to the blog,

As is often the case, the blog I am now sitting here typing is not at all the blog I intended to write as I woke from my peaceful slumber this morning. In fact I had three other starters for this particular blog. But then as I sat down to write,  one line of a song came flooding into my mind and I decided to write about that.

It’s as if The Universe wanted to prove the point of the blog right here and now by wedging that one line of that famous Billy Joel song into my heart and soul.

“It’s simply just a matter of trust”

So I am trusting that some of you out there reading this, really need to put your faith in The Universe right now too.

If you are  - then you can join me in standing by the precipice of life waiting to see where the winds of change take us.

For I can tell you one thing from my own life experience  - you really do never know where you will end up and who will tumble into your life to turn it upside down. And it appears that The Universe can navigate such randomness and sharp turns in your life that you could never contemplate.

In the last twelve months my life has been turned upside down and inside out a number of times on a personal front. Friendships that I thought would last a lifetime have dissolved. Romances that I felt were destined for success have crumbled  - and yet here I am. Feeling stronger, braver and more settled somehow despite the throws of life.

In my professional life and career, I now find myself travelling all around the countryside examining children in a tap programme that I created called Tapatak Oz. And this programme has in its own way taken a number of twists and turns that has seen it become something I never could have envisioned.

Not only a vehicle for tap dance, but a conduit for creativity, freedom and self expression for so many children all over the country.

A moment where they can express themselves fully.

A moment where they can express themselves freely.

A moment where they can feel close to who they are.

This was certainly never my intention when I wrote this programme.

I wrote it as a way to finish my career in tap dance and move onto being a writer through A Bridge To You………

But The Universe clearly had other ideas – and now here I sit with over 500 children each year, coming along to our examination programme with enthusiasm and joy and a love of tap. A life long passion that I have been gifted to share with them. We chat about tap and they are given the opportunity to express themselves and add their own take on all they do. We chat about how tap makes them feel and what they love about it. And their responses can be quite moving.

Some comments they have made at the end of their exams in our ” Tap Chat” are:

” I love tap dancing because it is the only place where I am free to be me”

” I love tap because it makes my feet so happy”

OR

” I love tap dance because I am really a quiet person and it lets me be really loud “

You can see from these comments, just how much the programme gives to some children. Things that I had never thought of to be honest.

So I guess the point I am trying to make – is that you never know where things will take you.  And you never can truly know the impact you can have on another human beings experience of life.

So just do what you are drawn to do and trust that there is a higher purpose.

I never had any intention of being a tap dance teacher.

I never had any intention of writing a tap dance syllabus.

And I certainly never envisioned that syllabus establishing an examination arm that would be encouraging self esteem, a sense of self, joy, creativity and freedom of expression as its fundamental underpinnings, alongside the tap technique.

The world does indeed work in mysterious ways!

I never thought I would lose some of my most precious of friends ………but they now appear gone from my life for good.

I never thought the men I trusted my heart to would walk away – but they did. Without even a fleeting look back.

I never thought I would be considering some of the possibilities for the next steps in my life that are currently running through my mind…….but I am!

And reading through that last sentence I do wonder what I will be doing in ten years time?

Perhaps you are wondering the same thing too?

Well –  if that is you – I invite you to travel along the path toward the unknown with me. Trusting in the winds of change and knowing that whatever happens is a beautiful gift designed to help you learn a little more about yourself.

There is no lesson more effective than a lesson we live.

So – embrace the unknown.

Go with the flow.

Float like a feather in the wind.

And trust, that you will end up where you need to be, to experience the best life that you can live.

#DiscoverYou #LoveYou #BeYou

Christine
