Love on a Licence Plate.

Hello to all and welcome,

It is funny how the simplest of things can change your mood and impact your day in an instant. And for some reason I find such occurrences to be quite fascinating, as they can really put your life into perspective sometimes……..and in an instant too.

And this was one of those occasions.

One of those times when I was really struck by how my mood had instantly shifted and how quickly and seamlessly it had all happened.

Basically, I was stuck in peak hour traffic, heading over to the other side of town.  Feeling a little impatient and bored, as we can sometimes tend to feel when stuck in traffic, I was drumming my fingers on the steering wheel trying to amuse myself.

It was then that I suddenly noticed the number plate of the car in front of me. It seemed to reach out and launch itself at me like a 3D sketch of sorts.

It was a personalised plate that simply read: LOVE OO

And there I was – suddenly feeling all happy and chilled out and calm.

It was really quite remarkable.

In an instant.

In a  flash.

In a heartbeat.

I was feeling content and calm and not so rushed at all ha ha ha.

That one word had reached over my dashboard and given me a great big hug, and it felt grand. Like the world was full of love and that was all that mattered.

In fact……..

I am actually curious as to how you are feeling now, having read the word LOVE above?

Did you too suddenly feel a little softness and mushiness enter your person?

As I have heard it said that it is impossible to feel anger or any negative emotion while speaking the word LOVE or thinking about LOVE?

I have tried this theory out for myself and must admit that I have found this, to indeed be the case.

If I try to say I LOVE YOU in a mean, angry or even irritated voice it simply does not ring true at all ha ha ah ha – my heart is still feeling the sensation of LOVE, even though my lips are voicing the actual word with another emotion supposedly behind it.

It really is the most curious phenomena!!

So I guess today this quick little blog is simply to point out the POWER OF LOVE and the power that certain words can have over us!

There are some other words that I do find equally as evocative – but not in such a nice way and I have learned to keep them far from my person. In fact – I actually took a scrubbing brush and cleaned some words off a wall that I regularly pass by each day in the stairwell where I live.

Why?

Because I noticed that seeing that particular graffiti there [ it was not an expression of art at all - just a particularly horrible and offensive word scratched into the wall ] was really altering my mood and upsetting me as I passed by it each day.

So – I removed it and now face a lovely, blank, beige wall as I pass by on my way out each day.

My mind is free to feel what it wants.

There are now terrible words they to invoke a sadness within me.

It just proves to me that some words are so powerful.

They are evocative and mood enhancing – or as was the case in my stair well…mood depleting. So I guess the message today, is to be careful what words and statements fill your world.

What are you reading?

What posters are on your walls?

What movies do you see?

All these things can have a serious  effect on how you feel.

I was recently given some lovely coasters for my apartment and they all have a different word on them:

Believe

Love

Dream

Happiness

Peace

Imagine

Notice how you feel when you read each of those words….

Well that is how my guests feel when they visit and are given that particular coaster.

The words are evocative and powerful and moving.

So – from a little licence plate named LOVE OO – came this realisation of the power of words and the power of LOVE.

May you invite words into your experience that truly make you feel uplifted and joyful and may you share these words with the people around you too,

It does make a difference,

#DiscoverYou #LoveYou #BeYou

Christine
