Seeing the good in everything – make that your goal for today!

Hi Everyone and welcome back to the blog,

Today I thought I would mention how easy it is to ” see the bad ” in a situation as opposed to seeing the good.

As with all things, this came to my mind as I stood in a florist deciding on a purchase. The attendant was clearly having a bad day and my questions regarding the various watering requirements, for the various cacti on display, was not garnering me any smiles or good points.

In fact – I was just about to give up and walk out, when I decided to try a different approach.

I moved around to a happy looking cactus, made a joke about its cute little spikes and managed to garner a smile from this lady.

And all of a sudden my purchasing experience seemed to turn around.

The lady was smiling and suddenly chatting  - even asking if the cactus was a gift etc etc

Which it was.

And I suddenly thought to myself……….” this could have turned out very differently” had I been my impatient self and commented on her lack lustre attitude at the beginning of my shopping experience.

And I guess that is how most days can be for all of us……

So often we can find ourselves focusing on all the things that have gone wrong in the day, and yet it is most likely that an equal amount of wonderful things have happened too. But as soon as one thing takes a turn, it seems to be human nature, to blow that up way out of proportion, and then allow that negative energy to manifest and grow and hinder the entire day.

Doesn’t seem to clever does it?

So today – in that flower shop – I was reminded to take a step back, breathe and then try and infuse the situation with a little light-heartedness and compassion…………and guess what?

That is exactly what I got back.

Light heartedness and compassion.

Light heartedness about our little cactus friend.

And compassion shown to the friend I would be visiting in hospital the next day. The soon to be happy recipient of said cactus ha ah ah ha!

I was actually quite astounded at how it had all turned out, given the mood in the shop when I had walked in.

So I guess the message today is rather simple.

Be careful how you choose to see things – because it is indeed a choice.

A choice to see the good.

A choice to feel the good.

A choice to be the good.

And an awareness of this small fact, can go a long way to changing the habit of ” seeing the worst in people or situations” –  to seeing the best, in these same people and situations.

Do I have this one under control?

No – I do not  - ha ah ha.

I am on a steep and continual learning curve just like everyone else.

But like I always say – an awareness of what I am trying to achieve and emulate in my life is at least a start. And it can be a start for you too.

An awareness of what is possible is the fundamental key.

An awareness of where you want to be is a starting point.

An awareness of how you could change are the building blocks of the future you.

The you that can see the good in everything around you, and the possibilities it represents.

How 15 minutes in a florist brought all this into my mind, I can only imagine ha ha ha? Like my friends and family say ” It must be crazy living in your head”. And indeed it is ha ah ah.

And on that note I wish you all a marvellous day full of all the good you can find.

Train yourself to see the good in any given situation and you will generate more of the same in your own world and experience.

#DiscoverYou, #LoveYou, #BeYou
