Hello again and welcome to the ABTY Blog,
For those of you new to the blog, it is a place where I strive to simply present concepts, that allow you to reflect upon your life, your sense of self and your place in The Universe. With the aim being to help you find a balance within, that allows you to present the truth of who you are to the world with total JOY and confidence.
Some ideas you may find simple to grasp and others may simply not appeal.
You may disagree or agree with my perspective.
There is no right or wrong.
All that matters is that you reflect upon the blog and come to a place of discovery, acceptance and joy for the person that you are.
That is -you are simply invited to read and reflect – and discover a little more about what matters to you through doing so.
So for today I pose the question:
” If you can not see it, is it really there?”
Now this idea came to me in the strangest of ways, at the most bizarre time…….as is often the case. And it all started here.
I was sitting in a hot tub at about 11:00pm on my first night @ The Enchantment Resort, in Sedona – in the most beautiful of places – The Boynton Canyon.
This particular canyon is known for its amazing energies – and the sense of peace I had as I sat there soaking in the hot tub was incredible.
I had arrived that evening under the cover of darkness, and with very little ambient light, all I could see around me was pitch black.
Nothingness.
The promise of the dark night.
The emptiness of space.
And a dazzling blanket of stars covering the sky above me.
Little pin pricks of radiance punctuating the night.
Given that this was the outdoor spa and there was still ample snow on the ground – I seemed to be the only person crazy enough to brave the cold. But for me this was grand – as the stillness and blackness of the surrounds were breath taking and being alone just amplified the experience ten fold.
So I just sat there in the nothingness.
Embraced by the nothingness before me and around me.
Dazzled by the dark, mysterious night…………….
Then the next day came and I decided to visit the same hot tub during daylight hours.
And what I saw was incredible.
I really could not believe my eyes.
Where last night, I had thought I was simply sitting in a black void, I now discovered I had been sitting in the presence of the most incredible, vast and commanding red rock formations that you could ever imagine.
And they were huge!
Hardly something you think you could miss.
I was truly flabbergasted!
So – being the intrepid explorer and seeker of truth that I am – I decided to return to the same outdoor hot tub that night, with the intention of viewing those amazing Boynton Canyon rock formations in the evening light.
Well – you have probably guessed where this is all heading?
And you would be right!
Once I had settled into the gentle swirling of the hot tub, I set about training my steely gaze upon the blackness around me.
I focused my gaze and sought out the mountains that were so readily available to my human eyes during the day.
But they were not there.
I strained and relaxed my gaze intermittently in the hope that the Canyon would appear before me.
But it did not.
I closed my eyes and quickly opened them again, hoping somehow to trick the rock formations into revealing themselves to me in the black of the night.
But their mysterious disappearance into the night was not revealed.
They simply were no longer there for all intents and purposes.
These massive, all encompassing, awe inspiring rock formations were simply no longer available to my senses.
And this got me thinking.
What else is simply not available to our human senses?
What other things are we missing out on, simply because we have not developed the ability to see, hear or sense them at this time?
What is the truth of our reality?
And is what we perceive to be true, really the true measure of what is there?
And finally this lead me to the final question:
Just because you can not see something, does it mean it is not there?
Well – in this instance the answer is clearly no.
The darkness could apparently move mountains.
And despite my daytime experience verifying the existence of the mountain – I still could not see it in the night. No matter how hard I tried.
So I extended this small example to a broader perspective of life experience and I found myself questioning a lot more. And today, I simply invite you to do the same – if the notion is appealing.
I simply invite you to answer these questions for yourself.
What are you prepared to accept as truth?
What are you prepared to question?
What – for you – is reality?
And do you even care?
And that for today - is the blog.
A question that you can only answer for yourself.
Just because you can not see something, does it mean it is not there?
