A cheery hello Tuesday to you all,
Today I have a simple question for you – and the question is this – what do these things have in common?
1. Watching pelicans fly in and land on the ocean during a brisk morning beach stroll
2. Tap dancing to a funky tune in the kitchen
3. Drumming along on practise pads, to some cool tunes with ear phones blaring
4. Spending a few hours in silent contemplation
5. Sharing a delicious meal with good friends
6. Bicycling around a new town
7. Colouring in with crayons in a super large children’s book
8. Walking in nature
If you guessed that they are things that I love to do – you would be right. And today it suddenly struck me that doing the things you love – no matter how silly, or insignificant, or strange they may appear to others, is indeed what lifts the soul and fills you up with joy.
So why is this an important thing to know?
Hello to all,
I recently came across the most wonderful quote and as is sometimes the case I wanted to share it with you. It is an ancient quote regarding health and it puts a really great focus on how your health can truly impact your life in more ways than you may first imagine.
As I have written about before: Your Health is Your Wealth.
And when you read the quote below, you will see just how profound this concept is and how it really crosses all parts of your life. It is also something that I really noticed myself when I was battling a so called “chronic illness” at the end of last year.
When I read this quote today I thought: ” Wow – this is so very true, and someone wrote about it thousands of years ago. And it is as true today as it was then”
And that got me thinking…….perhaps we should pay these ancient sayings a little more attention in our modern world. So here it is, for your reflection and benefit.
Hello travellers and welcome to the ABTY Blog,
If you are a regular ABTY blog reader, you will know that of recent times I have had a few challenges to deal with in the physical world. But it is through these challenges I have been able to redefine what is truly of value to me and that is predominantly a life spent focusing on the good and bringing a little bit of joy into the world.
Whether I am teaching my Dance For Parkinson’s classes, teaching classes for teachers bringing the arts to the disabled, teaching tap dance with Tapatak Oz or writing these ABTY Blogs – my focus is the same. Bringing JOY to the Planet.
And thusly, this is the focus of today’s blog.
Through all the turmoil and bluster that life can throw at you – just remember that in the centre of this – is YOU. And in the centre of You exists a purpose and focus that is particular and unique to You.
Good morning to you all and welcome to today’s blog,
In recent times, I have had some happenings in my life, that have brought home to me, in vivid technicolour, what was once only a theoretical scenario – or saying. And that saying is: Choose your battles wisely. You have all no doubt heard this age-old piece of wisdom and in the past few weeks this little golden nugget of wisdom has been firmly rooted in my subconscious, urging me on to a more contemplative approach when dealing with a new crisis of sorts.
Now, I have had to choose my battles before – but never quite so sharply as in the past few weeks. Never has this been such a physical reality in my life.
But I have to say – oh what a gift it has been.
A gift that has brought sharply into focus just where I want my energy to flow. As it has allowed me to really look at my energy systems and how I choose to regulate or manage them. And after a morning of grief, despair and anxiety I finally came to the logical conclusion.
LET IT GO CHRISTINE!
I have had to choose whether or not to defend something which I think is just and right and true – or whether to let it go and avoid a whole world of aggravation.
Happy Tuesday and welcome to you all,
Have you ever found yourself weighed down by all the things that have gone wrong in your day?
And do things, then, just seem to keep pouring down upon you? You drop a plate, your computer won’t work, you stub your toe, your car won’t start? The printer has malfunctioned as you have a load of printing to do? Some unexpected problems arise in what should have been an easy flowing scenario?
Well – to be honest – that was exactly how I was feeling about 15 minutes before I had to write this blog, as my day just seemed to go from bad to worse with various technological challenges and mishaps blighting my day.Hardly inspiring - and I was wondering what on Earth I could write about that would be inspiring when I was feeling so low and bleak ha ha!
But then two things happened:
1. I received a wonderful message from one of my subscribers showing her appreciation for my blogs and communications [ most perfectly timed I have to say ]
2. I remembered a wonderful message from Abraham [ I am talking as in Esther and Jerry Hicks] that I had seen in my inbox and decided it was time to meditate upon that briefly.
Now – did my mood totally change?
Not exactly ha ha ha – but it did inspire me to sit at my laptop and write – and that is a good and grand thing as it lifted my spirits greatly.
So – what were the inspiring words from Abraham that shifted me today? Read More
Hello to you all and welcome to Friday,
Today I want to share with you the power of Simple Acts of Kindness – not only the power and comfort that comes to the recipient – but also the power and comfort that comes to the givers and the observers of these simple acts.
For me – this came to my attention recently whilst on a regional flight in Australia and my faith in humanity was reinstated in an instant, whilst observing both a young female passenger and the stewardess dealing with an elderly gentleman who seemed a little confused.
It was a series of beautiful moments that I will never forget and such a great lesson to me in that moment.
A cheery hello to you all and welcome to Tuesday,
Today I simply want to talk about getting things done and why we don’t.
If you are anything like me, you can remember many things that have been thoughts in your head, but have sadly and regretfully never made it into the world of your reality.
Things that you just couldn’t get started for some reason.
For instance – have you ever been thinking of doing a project of some sort but the time is just never right?
Have you ever found yourself putting off a project because the end game seems so far away – because it seems impossible to achieve?
Have you ever procrastinated and you are not even sure why ? Read More
A wonderful Friday welcome to all,
Today’s blog is a celebration of friendship.
A celebration of all those wonderful people who truly bring meaning and joy to your life.
A celebration of all those, who through thick and thin, stand by you and hold your hand.
A celebration of all those who rise to the occasion when you need them most.
In short – a celebration of those who really matter to you. Read More
A huge Happy Tuesday and welcome to the blog,
Today’s blog is really a simple reminder of the huge benefits joy, laughter and the right mood can bring to your day. Not only in terms of your mental health, general disposition and effectiveness in what you are trying to achieve that day and in that moment, but also the ancillary benefits that this brings to your physical health.
More and more we are seeing research and commentary pointing to the amazing benefits of being joyful and happy and the effect that a positive and uplifted attitude can have on our lives.
Does this mean that we live in a place of delusion where we see everything through a “Pollyanna lense” ? No – not necessarily.
Does this mean that our lives will only be full of what we class as “happy” experiences? No – not likely.
But it does mean that we can try to see through challenges, accept the lessons they bring with them and go through life with a more cheerful disposition in general, accepting that life is a mixture of experiences that gives us a well rounded life education and many opportunities to learn and grow.
So today – if you are feeling a little low or blue – what can you do? Read More
Welcome to the blog on this cold and rainy Friday morning,
Today I want to share with you a topic that I have been delving into quite deeply over the past few months – and that topic is ” why”.
Why do I do the things I do?
And why you do the things you do?
In short, I have really ramped up my investigations into the human condition, in a quest to understand my own successes and failings, and the motivations of not only myself, but all those who I connect with on a regular basis.
In the past I have had people say to me: ” Why do you give so much thought to why people do things and why things happen? It is such a waste of time. Why do you analyse every little thing you do?Just get on with life and you will be much happier”.
Well that may be true in the short term. But as for the long term – I am not so sure.
Now of course – I believe that everyone has the right to live their life in accordance with their own values and ideas, and if you are someone who prefers to “let sleeping dogs lie” and just get on with it – then that is your choice. But what I would like to offer here today is another option. An option that I call thoughtful living, as I have found massive benefits in digging deeper and going further.
It can be painful at times and certainly takes a level of determination and courage to look deeply within yourself. But as it is with all things in life – nothing comes for free and this self examination leads to self determination of a very different type. An informed sense of self that speaks the truth of who you really are. And this allows for the greatest sense of freedom I have ever known.
And I am only just getting started.
