A dinner party with a difference – what thoughts will you be entertaining this evening?

Hi Everyone and welcome to another week,

Today I want to get you thinking about the thoughts you think – but in a different way.

I want to encourage you to really think about – what you think.

Why?

Because so much research has been done about the far reaching effects of our thoughts upon our physical and emotional experience, that I feel it behoves us to give it such thought.

Because as you think – so you are.

Because as you think – so you become.

Because as you think – so shall it be.

And in order to do this,  I am asking that you imagine that you are throwing a fabulous dinner party in your home. You are the host and all the guests are of your choice. Your friends – both old and new.

So – here we go.

Select your dinner guests, plan your menu and let’s get this party started ha ha ha. Read More

A life defining question.

Embrace the void – it fills a role and leads you to the new

Happy Friday travellers and welcome to the ABTY blog,

Have you ever felt like you are in some sort of weird holding pattern in your life?

Have you ever felt like you are in some sort of void and nothing is happening?

You are just stuck – not moving anywhere, not getting anywhere, and feeling a little lost?

Your interests have changed, your job is no longer fun, your friends seem to be on a different wave length to you and there seems to be a whole lot of nothingness swimming about you?

Well – what if I told you that those moments in the void are actually the most exciting times in your life?

What if I told you that these moments of nothingness are actually the moments of everything?

What if – the void is necessary for you to become who you are meant to be? Read More

Who cares for the carers?

Hello to all and welcome to Tuesday,

Today I simply want to shine some awareness on all the unsung heroes in our communities. Those people who quietly go about the business of supporting friends or family members who are going through challenging times, whether emotionally or physically.

People who are giving of themselves on a constant basis, to make the life of someone around them that little bit better. Those people who are often doing it tough, with a smile on their face and endless amounts of energy and joy, to keep the person around them afloat and full of hope and optimism.

But who is there to keep the carers afloat and fill them with this same hope, optimism and joy that they are cultivating for the person they care for on a daily basis?

Look up and live. Look up and give. Look up and see the world in which you live.

A cheery weekend hello to you all,

I have written on this topic once before – a poem actually – and today I am drawn to revisit this topic of social media and technology.

Why I am drawn back here is that recently I have found myself wondering just what is going on with the world and our ability to communicate with each other. And this seems to be not only affecting the younger generation, but now too the older generation seem to have fallen prey to the calling of social media.

We, as a collective, seem to be insulating ourselves more and more from each other with technology and various devices and yet our society seems at the same time to be crying out for some sort of human connection. People want to know that other people care about them……..but if  we –  or you –  do not look up from your i-pad or i-pod or i-phone to see that other person – how can they connect with you?

How can you get that human connection you crave if you are never open to the humanity and possibility around you? Read More

The Treasure Trove of Today

Hello to everyone and welcome to Tuesday’s blog,

In a world where we are often consumed by the guilt of the past and the promise of tomorrow, I was struck by the following proverb, that I wanted to share with you today, as it so eloquently reminds us that there really is only one time that exists – and that is the present moment.

No matter how you look at it, the simple reality will always remain that the only tangible moment in which you live is the present moment.

Yesterday – well it has well and truly gone.

Tomorrow – who knows what it will bring?

And yet – we can often find ourselves consumed with thoughts that live in these two worlds.

We can often find ourselves pouring our time, energy, thoughts and emotions into these two places where they can have no effect at all.

And so today – I give you this wonderful quote to ponder.

Amy – the story of a world gone mad and inspiration for a new world of compassion?

Hello everyone and welcome to the blog,

Recently I was lucky enough to see the new documentary about the late and great singer Amy Winehouse….and what an experience it was.

To say I was quite devastated by this film would not be an understatement.

I was shocked.

I was appalled.

I was moved.

I was filled with utter grief and despair at the unnecessary loss of a talent so dazzling and brilliant. A shimmering soul and a raging light that was dimmed well before its time.

But most of all I was dismayed by the world that allowed it to happen.

The dichotomy of existence – your greatness is the smallness of You.

A cheery hello to all and welcome to today’s blog,

A blog that is really built around a recent thought………an idea, an experience. A moment in time.

And the experience is this.

I recently found myself staring into the beautiful blue, wintery sky and feeling within myself a vast interconnectedness to the entire cosmos. As I allowed myself to be pulled up into the incredible depth and expansion of that gorgeous blueness – that wild blue yonder –  I suddenly became very aware of just how small and insignificant I am in the overall plan of the Cosmos. But much to my surprise, instead of this making me feel small and insignificant – it made me feel huge and powerful and expansive and part of something so much greater than myself. Read More
