A huge, cheery hello to everyone for today’s Friday blog.
And why so cheery I here you say?
Well, that is because I am finally going to take some of my own advice ha ha ah ha – and head off on a vacation……………………………without my laptop.
That’s right ladies and gentleman – I am heading to Japan to indulge in the gorgeousness of all things Japanese and bask in the beauty of the famous Cherry Blossoms.
I am going to resist the urge to answer emails [ though in all honesty I am still taking my i-phone so will have access ], and am going to practice what I preach to the best of my ability. I am going to totally immerse myself in “me time”, with 100% attention given to my travel companion and all we do and see and experience together.
It is time to unplug and really practice the art of enjoying living for a while.
Mindful living.
Purposeful living.
Aware living.
The irony of writing this blog is never lost on me, as it requires me to sit inside at a computer, which is often the very thing I am encouraging people not to do ha ha ha – but there you have it – the complexity and dichotomy of life in one small moment and activity. There are always so many angles to everything we do, say and experience. But I truly do feel it is so very important for us to unplug sometimes.
Take a break from technology.
Take a break from our usual friends, habits and routine.
Take a break from life………… to actually experience life .
And so – for the first time ever – I am heading overseas without my laptop.
For those of you who are a little more progressive than me, and have found this liberation prior to reading this blog, I congratulate you on your foresight and determination to take time away from the relentless requirements of living in this great technological age. This great – forever and always contactable age. And for those yet to conquer the addiction, I say – give it a try and join me in the void.
Join me as I leap into the abyss.
Join me in the crusade to limit the reaches of technology into life.
Join me, as I take 2 weeks to really focus in on nature, the company and human beings I am with and all the beauty around that the Universe provides.
To be frank, I am quite good at allowing myself “me time” - but I have fallen some what victim to the relentless pursuit of perfectionism when it comes to answering emails in a timely fashion and posting blogs and Facebook updates etc etc
Constantly working at and promoting my various businesses.
So for the next two weeks, I will be limiting A Bridge To You to just one Facebook post per day.
That is it.
One post each morning from Japan – and then I shall render my technology obsolete for the rest of the day.
There will be no blogs for 2 two weeks…….perhaps I will be the one who suffers withdrawal ha ha ha.
So I invite you to take a break from me and A Bridge To You too ha ha ha. And take the time to fully focus on You…….. and enjoying You in the world that nature provided.
Now – not everyone can go off on a holiday overseas – I totally get that – but look for a park or walking track near you and take some time each and every day to fully immerse yourself in whatever nature has provided in your area. A trip to the beach. Sitting under the stars at night on your back porch. Hiking a nearby trail. Stopping to feel the wind on your face as you walk to work. Noticing the bees as they busily pollinate the flowers in Spring. A quiet walk with your partner. A quite walk alone – free in the solidarity you feel with nature and the simple pleasures the world has to offer.
Turn all the technology off.
Plug into nature and be truly nurtured.
Enjoy the delights of not being contactable 24/7
Like they say – sometimes less really is more.
So my friends – that is it from me. I have bags to pack and a camera to locate ha ha ha.
I wish you all the most marvellous 2 weeks and will no doubt have stories to tell when I return.
And if you really are in need of an ABTY fix over that 2 weeks, please just visit the Facebook page for a daily spot of encouragement and joy: https://www.facebook.com/btysydney?ref=hl
And of course, you can always revisit some of my earlier blogs – there are over 30 of them now I think ha ha ha – so plenty to read if you are in the mood.
So fun lovers. Here I go – into the void.
Wish me well and see you on the other side.
#DiscoverYou, #LoveYou, #BeYou
