Solitude, a sense of self and the quiet you may need

Hello to you all and welcome to another week,

I have recently found myself caught in a whirlwind of busy-ness and doing-ness and was struck by how “out of kilter” I became – and quite quickly too. And what I discovered is that I really do need a lot of time on my own each and every week, in order to feel balanced and calm.

In fact, mid last week, I found myself in the constant state of “interacting with other people” and I really began to feel quite anxious. This anxiety was also caused by a few new things I was required to do with my work and I did feel a little overwhelmed – so I knew I had to do something to last out the week.

I had to do something to keep me settled whilst I ventured quite far from my comfort zone.

So what did I do?

I simply took time out for me and got back to nature.

I took myself off to the nearest park and literally rolled about in the grass there for a few hours ha ha ha. I talked  - or rather quacked – with the ducks, I lay on my back and looked at the sky, I pondered life, took off my shoes and socks and tried to feel my energy reconnect to all that was around  me.

And it was truly remarkable how this anxiety within me simply melted away and I found a new equilibrium settle within me.

I truly did reconnect to that little someone within me and found that with this recognition of nature also came the recognition that I was part of something so much more than myself. And this sense of being so small in the grand scheme of things, really was quite settling and comforting. Knowing that I was just a little speck lying on the grass, made me feel that I had no cause for such concerns and that whatever intelligence was governing this vast expanse around me, would also be more than capable of guiding me through the challenges of the week ahead.

I felt strangely resolute to the week to come.

Strangely assured that there were lessons to be learned as I leapt from my comfort zone – hurtling into unknown and terrifying territories.

So – on the week went and I faced my fears.

People showed up around me to comfort me, support me and assist me in a variety of ways. Some actively seeking to reassure me and others unwittingly doing things that made my week so much more fun than it may have been.

I jumped into the unknown and guess what? I survived ha ha ha.

The world around me did not cave in.

My fear did not swallow me up.

My life did not end.

The sun still went down and came up again each and every day.

Life was just as it was before I felt anxious and worried.

So I guess the lesson from the blog today, is that in times of great stress or worry – you may benefit from simply taking some time out for you and reconnecting to nature. It really does provide great solace and calm in those times of worry and stress. Just find a great spot in the park or by a river, sit yourself down and allow yourself to simply re-establish that ever so important connection to your energy and the energy of everything around you.

Allow your body and its natural rhythms and energies to fall in synch with the subtle and calm energies surrounding you. The ebb and flow that gently guides and informs nature without the slightest of effort. The gentle feel of the breeze on your face, the warming glow of the sun hitting your skin, the twittering of the birds around you. All of these things can quite effortlessly deliver to you the equilibrium you may be seeking.

So when you are next feeling a little “out of whack”, “hassled”, “overwhelmed” or ‘stressed” – simply stop, find a quiet place out in nature and take a few hours just for you.

You really may be surprised at just how calming it can be.
