The dichotomy of existence – your greatness is the smallness of You.

A cheery hello to all and welcome to today’s blog,

A blog that is really built around a recent thought………an idea, an experience. A moment in time.

And the experience is this.

I recently found myself staring into the beautiful blue, wintery sky and feeling within myself a vast interconnectedness to the entire cosmos. As I allowed myself to be pulled up into the incredible depth and expansion of that gorgeous blueness – that wild blue yonder –  I suddenly became very aware of just how small and insignificant I am in the overall plan of the Cosmos. But much to my surprise, instead of this making me feel small and insignificant – it made me feel huge and powerful and expansive and part of something so much greater than myself.

Part of something immense and vast and special.

Part of something that I knew really mattered.

And then the thought struck me…….how weird is it to feel that you are everything, in the same moment that you conceive of yourself as something so small and tiny?

How can you be so insignificant and small, but at the same time feel so broad and full and connected? And that my friends, for me, is the dichotomy that plays out in our lives and existence each and every day: the everything is the nothing, the nothing is the everything and it is all so interconnected and magical that it is simply awe inspiring to realise that each and everyone of us is part of this incredible plan and schematic.

I am nothing but a speck.

And that is where the power lies. In knowing that you are part of this intricate and emboldened design in such an amazing way and that you are connected inextricably to all the other little specks of dust that are floating about the place.

I found this thought to be incredibly liberating. Empowering even.

Just to look up into that vast expanse of sky and know that millions of other people are looking up at it too.

To close my eyes and listen to that gentle and unmistakeable hum of nature and know that all over the world, millions of others are listening to it too.

To feel the light, caressing touch of a breeze sweep across my face and know that on the other side of the Planet, millions of other people are feeling that breeze too.

To sense this vastness and connectedness and to know that I am part of it in this small way is just so amazing.

To acknowledge that this very tiny-ness allows me to touch and be one with greatness……..that is the magic!

Akin to all the cells that make up my human body, my entirety is like one little magical cell in the body of existence and creation. And here I am  - in all my glory – contributing to this spectacle.

And akin to all the cells that make up Your human body, Your entirety is like one little magical cell in the body of existence and creation. And here You are  - in all Your glory – contributing to this spectacle.

For me – it is the most wonderful realisation.

It makes me feel all warm and gooey inside.

Without any pressure to be anything at all.

Without any pressure to do anything at all.

Without any pressure to have anything at all.

I am simply incredible and a part of something great, just by virtue of the fact that I exist and am here.

You are simply incredible and a part of something great, just by virtue of the fact that You exist and You are here.

What freedom exists in this fact.

In a world that has become increasingly narcissistic, ego driven and self obsessed – perhaps it is this lack of connection to the world around us – and the people around us – that has left us so sad and bereft of joy?

Perhaps a willingness to once again recognise, honour and appreciate this innate “interconnectedness” of all living beings , is what can set us free?

When we once again truly see and hear all that exists around us in our natural world and realise our connection to it all – perhaps then we will rediscover our natural sense of JOY that resides deep within our soul.

Indeed I believe we are all hear to find our true voice , our authenticity and our purpose driven reason for being and to shine our light. But I am also considering the possibility that the key to this is also in recognising that we are hear to do this with a sense of connection to all other living beings in the Cosmos, as opposed to a self centric approach that shuts out all other living things.

To be a creative individual amidst this vast knowingness.

To take our place as part of a greater force.

To expand and grow alongside the Cosmos, rather than in spite of it.

Perhaps this is the final layer of our human experience that can really add value to ourselves, and to all those around us. As we recognise the power and freedom of becoming one huge, interdependent, creative force that celebrates the individual component parts, whilst also celebrating the achievements and progress of the whole.

For me – this thought…this idea….this flash of insight represents a brave new world.

A world where I am part of something so much grander than anything I could ever have imagined – and yet I have been given a free seat, for eternity, at the best seat in the house. And all I have to do to keep my seat is turn up.

Marvellous.

My tiny-ness is my greatness. My greatness is my tiny -ness……my nothingness.

The dichotomy of our magical existence continues.
