Hello to everyone and welcome to Tuesday’s blog,
In a world where we are often consumed by the guilt of the past and the promise of tomorrow, I was struck by the following proverb, that I wanted to share with you today, as it so eloquently reminds us that there really is only one time that exists – and that is the present moment.
No matter how you look at it, the simple reality will always remain that the only tangible moment in which you live is the present moment.
Yesterday – well it has well and truly gone.
Tomorrow – who knows what it will bring?
And yet – we can often find ourselves consumed with thoughts that live in these two worlds.
We can often find ourselves pouring our time, energy, thoughts and emotions into these two places where they can have no effect at all.
And so today – I give you this wonderful quote to ponder.
Yesterday is but a dream
Tomorrow but a vision
But today well lived -
Makes every yesterday a dream of happiness
And every tomorrow a vision of hope
SANSKRIT PROVERB
To me this is just the most wonderful proverb that contains such an incredible depth of wisdom and meaning.
To me it says that should you focus on today – and bring true joy to every moment in the present – then the past memories and future prospects will look after themselves. To me it is saying that we have it all wrong in focusing our attention to the past and future, by missing the point that when you live and love and enjoy and thrive in the present moment – the rest will simply be.
By focusing on the NOW.
By living in the NOW.
By enjoying the NOW.
By being committed to the exploration and devotion of NOW you quite simply set the parameters for a joyous past and enviable future.
By living in your present time – you will inadvertently guarantee those past memories to be chock full of laughter and joy and set up the future to be filled with the same.
The irony it seems is that by focusing on the NOW you guarantee your joy and happiness in all time spheres – past, present and future. Whereas if you focus on the past or the future you can guarantee to mess up any prospect of joy that could have been found in all those same areas – past, present and future.
What a revelation to be found in one simple little proverb.
How wonderful.
How profound.
How joyous.
So my message today is to simply practice the art of living in the now and watch your entire world transform.
Forget the past and the future. They will take care of themselves easily and effortlessly as a by-product of a life focused on the only true experience of time you can actually have – the present.
It almost seems too simple
Too obvious.
Too easy.
And so today, I simply leave you to contemplate, ruminate upon and satiate yourself with this little proverb.
Yesterday is but a dream
Tomorrow but a vision
But today well lived -
Makes every yesterday a dream of happiness
And every tomorrow a vision of hope
So my advice today is:
Get to living your life right now.
Get to loving your life right now.
Get to appreciating you life right now.
Because NOW is all you have.
