Well hello everyone and welcome back to A Bridge To You,

Today I want to share with you the incredible benefits of de-cluttering your life.

Yep – that’s it. De-clutter. De – stress. De -brief.

And just what has brought me to write this particular blog?

Well the truth is, that after a long and lovely lunch with a dear friend a few days ago, I came home and found myself with this incredible urge to clean out my apartment. And I mean really clean it out. And after 5 hours of crawling up ladders and investigating the depths of my kitchen cupboards and wardrobes, I found myself with an entire car load of items to donate to St Vinnies. [ that's an Australian Charity shop ]

“Now that is nothing overly exciting” – I hear you say to yourselves

” Is that really blog worthy?” – I hear you ask

Well – indeed it is……and here is why.

What I felt as I dumped all this stuff at the Charity shop was an overwhelming sense of space.

Space that is now ready to be filled with something. A something that I am yet to discover and a something of which I have no knowledge. But it felt like I had sent a huge flare up to The Universe. A massive and unmistakeable SOS saying – I am ready to move forward and experience something new. And the relief was palpable. It was tangible. It was real and earthy and connected to me. It was a relief from something that I never even knew I needed relief from ha ha ha ha. And as I got back into my car, I simply felt this incredible JOY and sense of “readiness for newness”.

An overwhelming sense of freedom.

An overwhelming sense of satisfaction at having finally taken this step and removed all this “stuff” from my life and energy flow.

An overwhelming sense of moving on and being ready for new things.

And I don’t mean physical objects at all – I mean that I felt a true readiness for change to come into my life.

New Experiences.

New People.

New Directions.

I could physically feel the energy starting to flow again. And when I walked back into my apartment there was an incredible “lightness” in the place. I could physically feel the energy moving and flowing through every part of my being and my space.

It was like losing an incredible amount of weight. I felt like there was a load I do not have to carry anymore and a space that is now able to be filled. A space that was before cluttered with stuff.

Stuff that was holding me to a time gone by and keeping me from fully exploring the new me.

The me that is waiting to be born.

The me that has been waiting for me to signal that I am ready to move forward.

The me that no longer needs to hold on to all this old stuff, as I know that I am not going back there. I will never use that stuff, or wear those clothes. It’s all stuff from the Christine of 10 – 20 years ago and that person has changed and moved on.

I just wonder why it took me so long to realise this and take action?

It is amazing really ha ha.

So – my invitation to you all today is to take control of the clutter and let it go.

Let it go and let that energy flow.

It is amazing to me how this one act of de-cluttering has allowed me to de-stress and de-brief.

I feel less stressed as I can feel the space that now allows me to move in new directions.

And the physical action of clearing out all my cupboards has also acted like a de-brief on my life: what stays and what goes very quickly signalled to me where my true interests now lie and where they firmly do not.

For instance – the ukelele and my drum kit both got a reprieve. They made the cut so to speak – which clearly signalled to me that I still have a hankering to play in a band as a drummer and an equally strong urge to start my ukelele lessons. My rice cooker however did not make the cut, as I realised that I am never going to make that rice at home. I fully admitted to myself that my day as a home cook is never going to come – it just does not interest me at all. That rice is never going to be made. That dinner party I plan to throw is most likely never going to happen  - and if it does, I can safely say that it will not include a rice dish of any sort.

Bye Bye rice cooker – it has been grand but delusional ha ha.

So now it is your turn. Take a day to fully explore the depths of all your cupboards and storage spaces of all kinds and LET IT GO!

Get rid of the “stuff” of life that is blocking your energy and keeping you weighed down in stuff that you no longer need, want or use.

And there are so many options of what to do with all this stuff.

You can give it to charity.

You can have a garage sale and make some dollars.

You can give it away to friends.

You can invite your neighbours to join you in a “swap meet” of sorts.

You can post the stuff online and give it away – in my area there is a great group called Pay It Forward Marrickville [ Facebook group ]  where people post” stuff” and other people in the group say if they would like it and then they arrange to exchange the stuff. I got rid of 12 ink cartridges on this site recently and found out that those cartridges are actually going to end up in Africa at a charity – how cool is that?

You can have a stall at the markets somewhere and sell it

The options are endless and they all assist you in moving forward and re-energising your life.

So – out of a lovely, long, lunch came the realisation of a lifetime.

The stuff of life can hold us back.

The stuff of life can block the flow of our energy.

The stuff of life can keep us shackled to a time gone by.

So – set yourselves free my friends.

Be Free of the clutter and launch yourself into the newness of You and all that is awaiting your transformation.

To truly discover the You that is waiting to be born you have to be willing to release the You that is no longer relevant – and that You comes with “stuff “.

Release the stuff and Release You.

Like releasing a Genie from the Bottle.

Like they say: ” Out with the old and in with the new”

But perhaps they should have added: ” Out with the old and in with the new……..but only if there’s room”.

#DiscoverYou, #LoveYou, #BeYou

Christine
