Respond – React – Review and Realign…..a simple path to Healing.

Hello to everyone and welcome to the blog,

I have recently been re-reading a wonderful book by Melody Beattie called ” Journey to the Heart”. A wonderful collection of thoughts or ideas to reflect upon each day. I tend to simply open the page to wherever I am guided to be, read that page and take from it what I am meant to take in that moment.

And recently, this is the passage I was drawn to:

Free Yourself From Manipulation

“Learn to recognise passive-aggressive hits. Learn to recognise when other people have hidden agendas, when they’re trying to control or manipulate you. When we’re being controlled, we may feel guilty, obligated, indebted. In our muddled state, we agree to another’s wishes but we’re not sure why. Then we wander around feeling uncertain, unbalanced and confused.

The lesson still isn’t about them.

The lesson is about how we respond.

If their behaviour, their energy, is affecting us that strongly, it’s because something in us needs to be healed.

A part of us isn’t clear, is still mucked up by something old and outworn, such as guilt or fear. Once we heal ourselves, we will know how to deal with their energy, how to handle their passive-aggressive behaviour and their attempts to control us. Then we can thank them for helping trigger our healing process, for helping us grow.”

Affirmation for this passage: ” Everything that happens along the way is part of the journey. Everything can be incorporated into our healing process. All roads lead to growth”.

Melody Beattie – Journey to the Heart

The section of this passage that really spoke to me was:” If their behaviour, their energy, is affecting us that strongly, it’s because something in us needs to be healed………… we can thank them for helping trigger our healing process, for helping us grow.”

I found this to be really ” awakening” for myself and a new understanding of all my relationships dawned upon me.

Familial, social, work, romantic, friendships, communal…….

So today I invite you to look at this passage again and discover for yourself –  ” who pushes the buttons in your life ” and stirs a reaction?

Who makes you second guess yourself?

Who makes you feel guilt, unease, obligation or fear? And why?

What is it within You that needs healing?

And after you have done this little exercise in soul searching –  perhaps you will – as Melody Beattie suggests, be able to thank these agitators in your life for triggering the healing process you so deeply seek and need.

Such wonderful and inspiring words from Melody Beattie and I trust they will prove as insightful for you as they were for me.

So – as we forge into the headwinds of  Xmas and New Year. A time when many of us can feel increasingly unsettled and unbalanced.  I invite you to take a moment to peer into your own life and uncover your buttons –  and why and who pushes them –  so you too can work towards an awareness of those triggers and create a stress free and harmonious Festive Season for yourself,

Enjoy the process and the healing it can bring,

#DiscoverYou, #LoveYou, #BeYou

Christine
